| The village of Santa Clara
is on the banks of the Mira river, at the foot of wooded
hills below the Santa Clara Lake, one of Europe’s
largest and cleanest fresh water lakes. The atlantic coast
is a short drive away, and Santa Clara Lake less than
10 minutes.
The region is famed in Europe for its birdwatching.
Our location is peaceful, and ideal for swimming, fishing,
walking or going on adventures. Archaeological sites from
the neolithic and roman eras, and moorish castles are
a short drive away.
In the spring the bright colours of the
azulejos are outdone by Alentejo's blooms - mimosa and
jacaranda blossom compete with the wild flowers, and the
fields turn a lush green before the dry summer heat.
